Ecological Assessments & Phase I ESA’s
Determining what environmental constraints exist on a particular piece of property is a key component of completing your due diligence. The professionals at AE possess the knowledge and experience required to accomplish this process in a comprehensive and timely manner. In addition to Ecological Assessments, AE regularly performs Phase I Hazardous Waste Assessments.

Environmental Permitting & Mitigation
The environmental regulations and interpretation of these rules by the regulatory agencies governing Florida’s natural resources are complex and frequently changing. AE works with state, federal, and local regulators on a daily basis allowing us to keep current with today’s environmental policies, therefore streamlining the permitting process for our clients. Prior to permit issuance, many impacts to regulated resources require compensatory mitigation. AE can tailor a mitigation plan that meets the needs of both our clients and the regulatory agencies.

Wildlife Surveys & Permits
Florida supports numerous state and/or federally threatened and endangered wildlife species that, if present, can affect the developability of a project site. AE has conducted thousands of listed species surveys and regularly interfaces with the Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) to acquire the necessary permits to allow the desired improvements.

Waterfront: Mangrove & Dock Permits
While coastal living in Florida is highly desirable, there are often additional environmental constraints related to shoreline and in-water improvements, such as mangrove trimming, dock installation, and shoreline stabilzation. The permitting of these desired improvements require an extensive knowledge of coastal resources (e.g. mangroves, seagrasses) and regulations. AE is located in coastal Brevard County and deals with these waterfront issues on a regular basis.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
GIS is a computer-based tool designed to allow for the analysis, interpretation, and understanding of geographical and environmental data which can then be displayed in a map. AE has an extensive library of data which is incorporated into our GIS including, but not limited to, soils, topographical information, historical aerial imagery, wildlife usage, and land use. The utilization of GIS allows for a more comprehensive and time efficient method for gathering environmental information on subject properties prior to field verification.

Erosion and Sedimentation Control
As authorized by the Clean Water Act, the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit program controls water pollution by regulating point sources that discharge pollutants into waters of the United States. Depending on the size of the development, an NPDES permit may be required for site development. AE provides all aspects of NPDES permitting and monitoring to be sure there are no erosion and sedimentation control issues which could slow down development.
